Leah Clement
PhD Practicum Student in Clinical Psychology
I am a doctoral level practicum student in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa. I provide evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, families, and adults in both English and French, under the supervision of licensed psychologist, Dr. Rebecca Moore.
To help clients make sense of their experience, I take a broad approach to psychological assessment and treatment that considers the many different contexts of a client’s life such as their development, environment, culture, and identity, and how they intersect. I do so through a lens that integrates emotion(ally) focused, interpersonal, and cognitive-behavioural approaches in a warm, collaborative, and accepting environment.
My areas of interest and practice include trauma and stressor-related difficulties (e.g., operational stress injuries, relational trauma, developmental trauma, health-related trauma, adjustment difficulties), neurodevelopmental challenges (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), depression, anxiety, and concerns related to emotion regulation and interpersonal relationships (e.g., romantic, work, family).
I am particularly interested in working with military, veteran, and first responder clients and their families. I have received clinical training in multiple settings including the Operational Stress Injury Clinic at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, the Montfort Hospital, and a community clinic. My doctoral research is on attachment injuries that occurred in a romantic relationship during the military-civilian transition.
